Blackpool - 10th April 2019
It was good to start 2019's talks back in Blackpool where the venue staff are helpful and pleasant, and the proceeds from the room hire and catering fees support a well needed service in the area. Also good to be have a 100% attendance here today and receive so much kind and positive feedback - a real boost for the first talk of the year and especially the first ever "Handling Those In Distress" workshop, after a particularly challenging and tiring start to my year.
Thank you to everyone and it was nice to see some familiar faces again too.
I have placed some of the comments received below on how attendees benefitted, trying to avoid some repetitive comments, although and attendees will be invited to leave some feedback directly on the Feedback and Blog page, if you would like to do so or just take a look.
"New knowledge around dissociation and personal experience."
"Developing awareness of the triggers and how to support people living with anxiety/dissociation. How to encourage and work with people postively suffering from childhood trauma. This training was extremely helpful in understanding behaviours linked to dissociation and childhood trauma which I can incorporate into my direct practice as a social worker."
"Can implement methods and change my strategies to deal with situations presented to me."
"Really useful overview. Increased my awareness."
"Very informative. Great handouts."
"All very good" This will assist some of the dealings I have with patients in a frontline crisis/policing role."
"I learnt a lot about dissociation and I feel that hearing personal experiences really helped me understand. Material very good."
"Info around understanding impact of trauma on developing brain/techniques".
"New learning. Enjoyable day. Thank you for sharing your personal experience and knowledge."
"Confirming the brain and trauma. Presented well. Informative and helpful."
"Useful to learn more about PTSD."
"Very well presented. Good preparation."
"More theoretical framework for exisiting knowledge. Individual examples and practical responses were useful."
"Knowing that it is OK to activate the thinking brain of the survivor."
"Informative. More knowledge to boost my role. Very caring as a talker re all people's needs. Very considerate of breaks and writing time."
"General awareness and a few techniques to consider. Enjoyable."
"Understanding dissociation, how to approach someone experiencing this and activities to help them."
"Good reflective time. Hearing and understanding another perspective."
"I enjoyed looking at the different types of triggers and the different things you could try to help when someone is distressed or dissociatiing. Thank you for a good workshop."
"On both a personal and professional level this will help me with an understanding of dissociation"
"Found out more about dissociation and trauma and how to help inform our work. Great networking opportunities too although I would like more activities"
"Enjoyed the survivor's perspective part - made it real. NLP stuff interesting. Enjoyed the brain part and how to bring back on time; really like the brochure content and information provided to take away - thank you."
"Improved knowledge and udnerstanding of dissociation and how to react to it."
"Enhanced knowledge around dissociation and trauma. I would have liked introductions of other attendees at the beginning." [This is something I will consider with future sessions. Julie Anne]

As with earlier sessions, several attendees found they could directly relate to the the presentation content either from their professional experiences, in their personal lives or both.

Mold - 29th November 2017
Pleased with the turnout for this event and the range of backgrounds in attendance which ranged from police, adult services, counsellors and private individuals. It was particularly good to see so many representatives from North Wales Police stationed locally attend and provide valuable feedback. To hear from several attendees that the session made them think and they could relate the content of the session to real-life scenarios and to be asked to do further talks for other organisations was certainly very positive. Feedback received included: "Fantastic talk, really informative and interesting" "It was beneficial to hear about a condition that I may come in contact with in my work" "Greater understanding of conditions" "More understanding and awareness" "Please contact me to book an event" "Improving my understanding of dissociation to help the service I provide" "We all enjoyed the session and thank you , it was very brave and you are an inspiration!" |
